Why are some gaffers tapes more expensive than others?
we regularly receive samples of gaffers tapes that various tape manufacturers would like us to offer at thetapeworks.com.
locating new and better products for our customers is always a challenge and we hope to find better tapes at better prices.
when it comes to new gaffers tapes, we are always disappointed.
permacel and pro gaffer use an adhesive laminating process that calls for an expensive and complicated procedure to recover the solvents used for making the tape sticky without causing environmental problems.
this ensures an adhesive both agressive in performance and easy to remove. it also assures that the tape has enough stiffness to not curl and stick to itself.
other less expensive gaffers tapes use a water based adhesive, leading to a less expensive manufacturing process but creating an inferior product.
gaffers tape is offered in thicknesses as thin as 10 mils. that explains why some gaffers tape is prices so much lower than well-known name brands. permacel 665 & pro gaffer are a full 12 mils thick.
this 20% increase in thickness means that the tape handles better, tears straighter, is less likely to curl and is much stronger. it even feels different to the touch.
try a roll. you'll see the difference immediately.
you don't have to look too far to find a less expensive gaffers tape, but you won't find it at thetapeworks.com, because we only sell tape products that allow us to live up to our unconditional "satisfaction guaranteed" promise.
the gaffers tapes you find on these pages are guaranteed to be strong, tear straight, leave no residue and stand up to the abuse that professionals expect.
give them a try. we're sure that you'll agree.
