Permacel and Pro-Tapes Form Strategic Partnership

    To Serve the Arts & Entertainment Industry With

    Specialized Pressure Sensitive Tapes

Pro-Tapes & Specialties and Permacel Corporation have formed a strategic partnership to produce and market specialized pressure-sensitive cloth and specialty tapes to the arts & entertainment industries. Joint announcement of this agreement was made by Barry Hart, Chief Operating Officer of Pro-Tapes (Edison, NJ) and Edward Miller, Business Unit Director of Permacel (New Brunswick, NJ).

The strategic partnership combines the capabilities and experience of the two acknowledged leaders in the development and marketing of tapes used in all aspects of A&E, including motion pictures, television, theme parks, convention centers, and legitimate theaters. Permacel is known as the tape industry’s leader in research and development and is the world’s foremost producer of premium cloth tapes. Pro-Tape’s expertise is in converting, finishing, and marketing. The partnership will allow each company to concentrate on its core competencies. They can thus offer the largest breadth of line with the finest products and service to the distribution network which services A&E users. For the first time, both Pro-Tapes and Permacel® products will be available from a single source.

Service is a particularly important factor in working with the A&E industry. "Super-rush" deliveries are almost standard. Being able to deliver exactly the right tape for every application is vital. Pro-Tapes has been providing that kind of timely service, together with its extensive specialized application knowledge, for many years.

Among the many tapes to be produced and marketed under the new arrangement are Permacel Gaffers Tape, Permacel Scenic Masking Tape, and J-LAR® Gel Repair Tape. But the partnership is expected to lead to the production of a constant stream of new and innovative products, as well as quick delivery of a much wider variety of sizes and colors.
